Painter is a lot more worth it imo. I personally don't bother using ddo or photoshop anymore for texturing. These days for me it's NDO to Painter and Designer. DDO is slow, buggy, and requires photoshop to work. There's a lot of good videos on Substance Painter, you should definately check some of them out, especially…
@BadGeo - That model is looking pretty sick :) Could you share the wires on all of that? Currently on my model it's at about 1900 tri right now. So I'm just under the limit. Might add to a few areas to really push that silhouette. I also agree that his waist could use another loop to define that form a bit.
Hey dude this is pretty cool! Mermodel's texture is generally WAY BETTER than dark's so far. Cleaner, better defined planes go a very long way, i think you're geting into too much over-muddy shading on this chick. This oldschool stuff is cool though, looking forward to more! (I hope there are gargoyles :p )
Whoa, those textures are WAY too noisy. Strip it right back to flat colours and spend a bit of time defining what each part of the texture is meant to be made of. Everything appears to be very bumpy as well, although I'm not sure if that's just effect of your spec map or a normal map. If its a normal map, take it out of…
I think as a color you should try a duller matte grey, you have to be aware if its for combat people dont want to be seen because they are wearing bright green. I would even maybe suggest some futuristic camo. Also the pants and waistband dont look defined enough and it probably needs more wrinkles if it is cloth.
Ok I am pretty bad at painting texture but here is a old example I did (that I really don't like now but w/e) This may not be the best example but you need to define your materials a little better and normally when hand painting the light I tend to paint the highlights by hand and don't rely on a ao map.
I see blender not as the most powerful polycrunching tool out of the bunch, but definately the most flexible and lightweight of all of them, and I still can't find better uw tools out of the box in any of the other applications. I wouldn't try to bring in any heavy meshes into blender for baking though :) hopefully that's…
Definately agreeing with you there Mojo. When shooting a with a sniper rifle I want to hear it loud and resonate off the surroundings The anti-tank missiles sound somewhat bleh too when they explode. And the tanks could do with a deeper roar from that 1500hp gas-turbine engine. I really wish sound was less overlooked in…
OK, some good feedback. Presentation is definately something I need to improve. Shouldn't be a problem. What about the work itself. I know your port is only as strong as its worst piece. Anything on there that you guys think is hurting me? That I should pull off? What are some of the pieces you think I should feature?
No flame war from me. My only real headache (so far) with Max is my current, painful lack of knowledge in it. I was just baffled that with as many make-things-squishy tools as Maya has that you hadn't found an analog. I'll definately give those soft selections a try. This plugin sounds awesome, it's great news.
