it was actually easier, planar map to channel 1, face map to channel 2 on the segment object the render to channel 2 with texture in channel 1. -

Re: ZBrush: Polypaint problem
The bleeding? Polypaint is vertex painting. The vertices on the borders of 2 groups are sharing 2 colours. Polypainting requires a dense topology to get a crisp edge.
