The hold function seems to do the job, but it requires the convertToSplineShape function which makes it unusable if there are any modifiers in the stack :/ I've been trying to figure out if there's any other undo-enabled spline functions that will let it work, but no luck so far.
if you have access to max you can select and relax the border first and once thats smooth relax the whole thing again with fixed boundaries. might need some rescaling afterwards to get it back to the original size. relax modifier that is.
Thanks Deforges! Well, here is the modified versions of both AO and normals. I occluded parts that would show parts of the interior (which I did not modeled since this is supposed to be a game asset) and set some text that appears in real references:
@Zeldrak - it is a 3d proxy model that I did a paint over on and modified it a bit I am glad you like the enviro thumbs here are some more, although they are a bit old I will post some more of this thumbnails in the days to come
I think Substance Designer has a converter node to go between the workflows, doing it in Photoshop is silly tedious in comparison. And you could always modify or build your own node in Designer if it doesn't do exactly what you want.
Wo, Thanks HP :) you are right, the one you modify is better , infact also something to do with my home monitor which is not really good, here i see in office is quite different as i see at home. Thanks again :)
I'd contact them to double check. As for the Max counter, it can't actually count quads, only polygons, which can have any number of sides. My assumption is the UVW Modifier is making Maxs counter treat all polys as tris.
Im pretty sure, as long as you are modifying the image, you can claim 'Fair use'. However I sent an email to my lawyer and asked for his legal input, ill post something once I get his response.
After painting on the image in PS and saving it, 3D-Coat should notice the files modify date has changed and automatically import it. If it's not doing that it could mean that there is some sort of permissions issue on your PC that is preventing PS from writing to the file.
Someone asked in email for a closer view of the river shader. This is slightly modified from the original, but essentially it's the same setup. This one mixes 3 textures (R,G,B) instead of four, removing the need for an alpha channel and improving the performance a little.
