be prepared to 'move' for the jobs. It's a young person's game. If you plan on setting down roots somewhere, then you might want to pick a different career. Only a select few I know have been able to stay at the same position for more then 5 years.
Adjusted lighting, made the roots flow into the main body more and added more leaves. @fhurtubise thanks for the advice, I have adjusted based on the feedback, hope it looks a little better. Need to adjust the textures on the bark still. Stil a lot more to do :)
I just have it mirror a whole hard drive, plus a few folders from the root hard drive. SyncBack does have trouble copying temporary files like Firefox profiles, but it just skips over them, doesn't stop the whole process.
Sorry! I'll post a current closeup of the hair. don't mind the eyes and face, that'll get fixed up soon with textures. Also, I am using an IMM curve brush, one of my own devising, it's basically a tube with a tapering end and an interesting root.
The answer is basically not to worry about it and use as much as you need. Premature optimisation is the root of all evil! If you want to be more systematic, you can use texel density as a guide for how to scale your islands and when to split them to a new textureset. Usual benchmarks are 10.24-20.48px/cm.
Maybe NSFW, like if you work with a bunch of dicks. Saw this cool palm tree in Florida last week, in a waspy expensive exclusive gated neighborhood, mostly Wall Street retirees. I know they're tap roots, but it would be awesome to have a tree in my front yard with these facing up instead. Anybody ever seen one of these?
Recently I've been getting back to my sculpture roots, trying to get the hang of it again. Here's my latest WIP... a dwarf. It's still very much a WIP. The hands and feet will have toes/fingers... and there will be a ton more detail in the pants.. and well... all over it! anyways here it is: I'll be updating it as I…
Foundry 42 is looking to build an in house weapons team - this is the dream job for many - grass roots, high quality, scifi realism - what more could you want as an artist. http://cloudimperiumgames.com/jobs/158-Weapon-Artist Looking for a range of experiences - the only caveat is you must be highly talented and motivated.
@EarthQuake The root of this issue has been exposed and discussed in https://polycount.com/discussion/comment/2686181#Comment_2686181. Please could we have this fix? Its simply an issue with a "rogue" object trying to auto-import itself without being assigned a _low or _high suffix.
I think there's a common conceit that art is an "appearance" thing only in a game, where code "actually changes how stuff works". So there's this long running notion that only changing how the game looks doesn't mess with the game mechanics. It's stupid, but my impression is that's the root of it.
