working on some handpainted stuff, cant seem to finish anything go from pixel art to normal mapping to handpainting and cant seem to decide what to do, feels like its slowing my learning. -

@Savven You're welcome :) @Gallamanji If you are interested in handpainted/stylized assets, you may want to join the Handpainter’s Guild. Take a look also at BrushForge, they seem to offer some form of mentorship. -

if you're doing handpainted like ben says- have a look at Jessica Dinh's art, she's a member here and she really knows her handpainted stuff, she's explained how she does it in a few threads. -

It was rambly, but here are the questions I see: Where do you get your textures? *confusing sentence about handpainted textures he... didn't handpaint?* Is there a known legal stock texture that I could use for a piece? -

I'm guessing it's quite alot of handpainted diffuses with highpoly generated normalmaps, since it's very clean and distinguishable colors. but then again, there are uses for photo overlays even in handpainted stuff. edit: found an image showing an unshaded hydralisk: -

Hey this is a great start. The iron looks good so far, but the gold is not reading as metallic. Free models and textures on this forum can be found here: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138341 Handpainted should literally be translated to just painting. If you can paint, you've learned how to handpaint a model. -
