I think the strings would be better if you make it cylinders because a plane might not be visible when viewed on the sides plus it will look nicer. By the way awesome metal guitar, I'll wait for the spec maps :) . -

This is the answer I was looking for - I was more concerned that it was just this huge no no. I'm modeling in Blender for a Unity game. It's a PC game but I'm trying to keep it pretty accessible - I'm aiming for Torchlight/Torchlight 2 specs. -

probably not, I messed around a bit more, lessened the spec on the eye, lightened up the iris a bit, and blurred the edge of the iris. Im feeling a bit better with this one, will spend some more time on it tomorrow -

Playing with the spec map to get a bit more detail. I really need more practice with them, especially tweaking the values to get it looking right. Here is the map I tested and the corresponding Marmoset screenie. -

How do these areas relate to the model? I twould be nice to see the model in 3d with the areas marked. What is the alpha for? You might be better off just "faking" the holes here with black in the diffuse/spec. -

Sure, it's looking better but if you're gonna make it red, maybe change the color of the horns to a darker color. Also you need to fix the spec on the skin and add some highlights to it. Made a quick lil paintover. -

Good stuff. Is this supposed to be a brand new gun-no scratches, grime, etc.? Spec definitely needs to be turned up-exxagerate the edges. You might just need to turn up the brightness of your source light. -

The treatment for specs are pretty similar than diffuses. Nevertheless,most of them are black & white for some reasons of optimisation (they use only one chanel RGB). We did also use cubmap mask for reflections. -
