On your place i would do a few freelance works in each area, you're listed. To get better idea of what's interesting for you and what's not. Try it even(sometimes especially) if you suck at it. *with voice of Yoda- Don't let your best skills dictate what to do. Interest and fun should be your guide, imho.
As far as I know there aren't very many animators on polycount. There are a few very talented animators on here though. Hope someone can answer your question. General tips: Portfolio is the single most important thing. Having connections will help too. Work on an indie project or do freelance for relevant experience Good…
Have not updated this thread lately as I have been working on some freelance stuff. But started on a little side project to got some practice at modeling so higher detail more complex stuff in Maya. Only high polys so far, all modeling done in Maya just thrown into Zbrush for a quick and easy render.
I've been here for a little over a month. I don't want to leave my mountain town yet. I think when the freelance dries up, I may have to move to Tokyo. Also, my kanji skills are like 2nd grade level. The post by Flow3D is read-able, but the majority of the kanji leaves holes.

Thank you for your feedback, i also feel a lot of it is quite basic even for lowpoly things. and now that i look at it it looks kind of artistically exhausted. I guess this is a side affect of freelancing. I want to get rit of the commissioned work items asap, and replace them by more dedicated work with some identity.
Backwards compatibility has always been an issue, and it's a big reason I'm still using 2016.5 for freelance and such. Having the newest version always gives issues until the rest of the world gets around to upgrading too. Exporting files as OBJ is usually a safe bet, if it's just a mesh. But anything else becomes a hoop…
I've already discussed moving out but my dad said no. I know about that guy, he's only interested in 2D art right now and has no plans on going for 3D atm. I have been trying to get freelance work but nothing has popped up, its been way over a year now.
