Thanks, Fantasymaster. I'm tryin'. I'm currently thinking about going more stylized with the texture painting, ala Heroes of The Storm, instead of worrying about cramming in micro details into the sculpt, in hopes of saving time and making the deadline. -

Aha that is nice. One thing wouldn't it be better if the gray metal part on the bottom also has some scratches etc? The red part looks awesome with the scratches on it because it makes it seem a lot more realistic. Great job! -

They most likely use proceduraly created trees (aka something like Speedtree). Would be way too much work to model a super realistic forest by hand. Here is an example for speedtrees used in Avatar: http://www.speedtree.com/avatar/ -

No prob, it was lunch time and I wasn't hungry :p Alas, if you wanna go rock I might suggest just making it a-symmetrical :P. Symmetry always makes things look like it's constructed from a machine. -

my lcSkinShader_2.0.cgfx does this same thing - blended normals ala John Hable/Uncharted 2 with cyan suppression. Its all wrapped up in a compact skinShading function - take a look and copy/adapt it if its helpful -
