sargentcrunch: yeah, I could've sworn I remembered first running into the problem after I'd done some extruding. I must've done the same thing you did. monster: righteous, I forgot xView had that option. That's a BIG help, thanks. This plus perna's selection trick solves everything.
This is the box mapping, It makes sense. Most of the game engines that supports displacement and tessellation shader, also supports crack free displacement and tri-planar mapping. From what I've heard, Substance also has tri-planar mapping option. Any of these should solve your issue with the opening along the seam.
Honestly. This is the kind of problem you'll want your programmer to solve. So in the event that someone comes screaming towards your direction yelling about how some model is using too many textures, you can point your finger at the programmer and say its his/her fault. Simple, really.
yeah, not what i expected his body to look like, either. reeeeeally like the bust. the body is good, just not as catered to my tastes as the bust was. his pose kind of reads like he's saying "hold on guys... hold on. hoooooold on, i'm seriously going to poop. hold on..." but rigging him will solve that
CooL! thanks. Okay the IK Blend, seemss to blend the hand to the environment coordinates, which would be good if he was climbing a ladder, but how o I get it to blend with the gun linked to his other hand? (I never solved this in Max, going back to the Q2 Female Werewolf back in 1999). Scott
I almost always click every edge you want it to intersect. You can let Maya try to sort (based on camera) how all edges should intersect, but it doesn't always solve it well. I've worked with maya 6.0 -> 2009 and I haven't ever noticed what you are explaining.
been watchin' this thread since ya started it. Its looking really nice right now. Im interested to see how you solve the seamage in that latest pic where the tiles meet the plaster. I love how you have the ceiling mold into the wood, makes it seem likes its ment to be there.
Looking good, man. I wouldn't sculpt because depending on how much you know or don't know modeling everything by hand could teach you some stuff like problem solving, minimizing pinching, etc. I guess it is up to you though. Either way this should look badass :) .
Dude, your geek-get-fit is exactly what I need. have any links to where I can get Go-Fit Chin-Up bar? My landlord is paranoid about things getting destroyed, I've always worried bars will leave indentations on the woodwork - or is this a solved problem by now?
I remember having that, too and also solving it. More than that my memory fails me. :P Try to check the properties of your low and highres meshes. Perhaps "renderable" or "visible to camera" are unchecked. Also having an empty object without any faces/vertices will cause the projection-dialog of rtt to fail.
