Re: Vray Maya 3.1 black lines around a label
2 possible causes. 1. You maybe have black shapes matching the UV in your color map. If so, replace the black with the same blue as the rest of the label. 2. Could be shadow. Very possible considering the angle it shows up. Add 2 render elements and it should be quite obvious; diffuse and raw light. -

Amazing environment, it shows that you spent five months on this. It was surely worth the time invested in it. he is an air surfer not the conventional water surfer different elements act differently on the body that is just a thought though i might be wrong my only crit is that the he seems scrunched down in the orthos and top renders (action shots look fine though) something to think about for future builds great model otherwise… -

Basically i want the cloak to be like the one on the right hand side. the issue is that the one on the right has no skin modifier and has different vert numbers. I just wish i could fix the white cloak issue. The one on the left actually has no cloak element anymore, i deleted it yet it still remains in the renders -

from playing the demo I don't see what's really all that exciting in this game... Am I missing something? The bad guys aren't really all that challenging or interesting. It's like borderlands without a lot of the cool rpg elements, or large roaming areas. The art is neato at least. Maybe I need to give it another try... -

Great idea! I think you're incorporating too much of his whole design though. If you look at the other custom wards they only use a small element of the character, like Crystal Maiden's staff and Banes little demon hands. I'd lose the arms, they're too literal and make the design too busy. -

the tools used back then were most likely alias poweranimator (precursor to maya) and softimage 3D. i can't say anything about alias but softimage worked pretty much like what we have today - IK rigs with floating control elements and the option to use blendshapes. vertex weighting to bind models to the rig.
