Just watched the vid, it looks pretty sweet. Will have to give the game a shot during my lunch break. I've always loved the top down scrolling shooters. I guess my only crit is that it looks easy/predictable, especially the final boss. Once you've got the pattern, it becomes a piece of piss. I think if you introduced some…
The base nude is 3-3.5k with up to 4.5-5k total when fully armoured. We actually paint our base/spec/glow/tint textures at 1024, and then the game scales them in half and compresses them into all sorts of fun unreadability(512x512). The model is all on one sheet, with the exception of head/helm & hair. That is all on…
I spent a few hours on this clock so far, and it's starting to come along. I'm planning on having glass in the middle, but there's still a lot to do on it. I think it's going to be a good centrepiece for me to build the room around, and next I'll start blocking that out and give myself a break from the clock.
i agree, the first is more interesting than a "chick with bunny helmet" which ive prob seen a 1000 times already why not make it a really sick rabbit.. no human features. less commercial but more original, i suppose either way, how can you make a rabbit and not put clocks? must have clocks!
Hi guys! I'm working on a new character. It's the first one I've done in quite some time so I wanted it to be silly and fun. I'm just starting to learn Vray and its been pretty good so far, though I must admit I was struggling getting this guys cloak to look velvety/satin-like. Anyways it's been a while and I'm turbo rusty…
Yeah, the countdown clock was what bothered me. I have no problem if it just said Fall 2009 and one day an announcement popped up. I understand the amount of work it takes to run a thing like this, and I know there'll be delays and unexpected problems, but perhaps countdown clocks aren't the way to go.
Thanks dude. Still feel I've a long way to go; lot of pieces still need a detailing pass once I've got the last of the parts in. Pyr: The face looks great. Only comment would be I'm not entirely sold on the scar. The addition of asymmetry is always good but I'm not sure it reads that well as a cut.I'd also say that the AO…
Thanks, guys! I looked again at the proportions because, without thinking, i was making it for a mini instead of a game character - eejit. Here's an update and a few more questions: In a high poly sculpt for games, do you just need a plane for the cloak and material? It's going to be hand painted and as low poly as i can…
Nice work! Some really strong shapes going on. I might say that you should pick one or two characters and really break them down and work on them. Do some turnarounds and line drawings of them, something that would really show off their structure for a 3D modeller to be able to work with. One of your roles as a concept…
Hey, Added hands, they're rigged but I haven't made the crossbows yet so I made a cheesy hand pose in the meantime I'm working on the face right now. I haven't gotten far, I'm mostly studying the topology. Are there any female faces that any of you think may seem appropriate? :\ There are some things left to do within the…
