Hi. I like your work. It is promising. The tiles and most of the modelling stuff look real. You should now pay attention to detail to elements like the wall painting and the yellow stripes. Take a look at reference, most of the real stuff look used, broken, uneven, etc... Those little details will enhance your work.
I thought that trailer is a teaser for an actual trailer coming next week. Or at least that is what i thought. From the images i can see some gameplay elements. But i think it'll be great from the mood and creepyness from the trailer. Or maybe thats just me being optimistic for a new Shinji Mikami game.
From wikipedia: "In the visual effects industry, the term rotoscoping refers to the technique of manually creating a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over another background." So yeah, it can be for animation, but it's not the only definition of the term. It's generally referred to as the…
+1. It's better, but in a "little tweak here and there" sort of way. Look at other artists work and look for contrast and variation of shapes. You have a LOT of squares and a LOT of the same size pieces. What makes the work Zieg posted much better is the contrast between elements. Everything here looks the same so their is…
If you have mirrored UVs, you will have a mirrored logo, there is no way around that. What you could do is add a small quad of floating geometry on the side you want you logo and have it as a separate element in your UV map, so that you can stencil your logo on it without having it applied on the other side.
why don't we just do that outside of the contest? make a list of every element that defines gameart today and what's wrong with it, then search for things that are inspiring and truely considered art by each individual (it's very subjective anyway) and work towards that. Get some sort of alternate gameart movement going…
This latest iteration is great, I'm liking the integration of the elven ruins with the forest details, and the mountains add a sense of scale and depth. I agree with Sebvhe about wanting to see more contrast and punch in the colors and values, but that could also come later after you decide on exactly which elements you…
Another method is to create 3 or 4 unique rock elements with tiling detail maps and mash them together to form the cliff. You can get some really natural looking formations like that. Some very useful tips in this one as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MhptO3Bam0&list=PLUcdb83t0I4tOrdKMCajS1me1jPEncbRq&index=10
Scratch that, having played with the material in the actual engine on some basic BSP meshes it does give the effect I was looking for :) . Don't think I'll break out the champagne just yet though, I'm sure there's still going to be some sort of issue with it :\ . Now on to the other technical issues and combining this…
Love it. I am really simpatico with your tastes. What does the scope between the driver and passenger seats on the dashboard do? :D This would fit right into The 5th Element, they sort went for a simpler retro futuristic style. Blade Runner too and well, many others im sure. Still can't get over this one:
