I'm still a student so take my advice with a grain of salt. With all the fires that are roaring in that room, shouldn't it be bright instead of dark in there? It's very hard to see and the lighting makes the fires seem more like arbitrary graphics instead of selling the room as a real place. I think the floating embers are… -

Well, not sure if this is the right method but i just unparented the swingarm bone from the root, set its orients to 0, re-parented it back and all is well. -

To ask an obviously question... Are your hip/root curves exactly the same for the left and right steps? If not, that would explain the different results even if the feet are exactly same. -
