I never said lightmaps were the issue and they aren't. Lightmap specular is pre-computed from the UV's in channel 1, not your lightmap UV's. As long as you run lightmass and have static light then your are pre-computing lightmass specular. The only way to turn it off is in the misc rollout > allow lightmap specular. -

I made some lightmap test lately. the scene is ever 100% auto illuminated, there is no dynamic light I made a first material with a rough normal map to have volume information in my lightmaps. After the bake I removed the normal map. the final render Lightmap only No lightmap The textures (real size) -

well at the VERY beginning MS3D some time after that Lightwave and well now finally max xD back then i had the chance to chose between max and lightwave but i somehow got into lightwave much quicker while i couldnt even find my way around max´s UI so i tried lightwave. -

i'm assuming that those shadows are baked into the lightmaps and to get crisper shadows from that you'll have to increase the amount of lightmap pixels available to areas where you want crisp shadows. either increase the lightmap res on the whole geometry in the editor or tweak the UVs to give important areas more space in… -

Lighting is built, lightmap resolution is turned up to 64 (but it could definitely be lower), and the lightmap UV's are on a seperate UV channel (Texture is on channel 0, lightmap is on channel 1. You need to increase your lightmap resolution (see the troubleshooting guide on the wiki) Also, those are some really bad lightmap UVs. Lightmaps generally handle stretching and distortion extremely well so in order to get the most out of your lightmaps you should be laying them out as rectangles as much as humanly… -

I learned Lightwave last year and I did not like how you navigate in the viewport as well the hotkeys you have to do in order execute certain modeling tools. Is there a setting in a Maya shader that does the same thing as curves in Photoshop. I'd like to set up a lightmap shader for a render that would display the same as the game.
