I jumped ship as well. I was a long time 3ds Max user, but since going back to school I picked up the education creative collection from modo which is like $150. Yeah FDM has it's share of issues when it comes to quality. right now it may be the best when it comes to price per foot in terms of building bigger objects. Since a build plate is only so large it comes down to being able to break a design into smaller pieces and engineer them to fit together after the parts are printed.… -

If you can wait a little while, I would expect clones to come out from Lenovo, Dell, etc. As for the price, it's not that bad if you factor in how much it costs vs how much you use it: 2 hours a day x 365 days a year = 730 hours.
