You answered it yourself: Skin the base of the tail to the same bone as the area it should stick to (pelvis bone?) I'm no skinning expert and don't know much about xgen, that said, in some cases either skinning a proxy mesh and transferring the skin weights to complex geometry or transferring weights of base mesh to…
How long will this last? I transferred money to my paypal, but it turns out gumroad charges some extra, now i transferred yet again, but i think it will only be available monday....
Maya answer: You can assign a different colored material to the faces as needed, then use Transfer Maps to bake out an unlit diffuse map. Rendering workspace > Lighting/Shading > Transfer Maps
bounchfx: yeah the 120gig comes with the transfer cable and cd. The 60gig doesn't. So get the 120gig. Once transfered it wipes the old 20gig. Easy process. Mine took about an hour or so.
Haven't read all of that, but will say here that some if not most of the programs offer options to transfer uvs from meshes that are the same. You can also use instances, but i think that transferring is a bit better.
It's been a while since I have used Unity, but do recall having to deal with material order since Unity assigns them to the mesh based of lowest face index value per assigned material in Maya. Something easy to do is gather all the material assignments and sort them by lowest face index. In this case, I took a 50k sphere…
I'm glad you solved it! And that you posted the answer for future people. They may never say it so I'll say it now, thanks! I've run into that same issue with mirroring and I'll usually mirror a chain to get the positions correct, then create a new chain snapping it to the mirrored version and then get rid of the mirrored.…
Could the tail be mirrored? There isn't much padding between the pieces, you should apply a per pixel map and see just how many pixels you have to work with. Some of the small tiny pieces will be lucky to get 1-2 pixels and they are going to bleed into each other. You might as well put a tiny square in the UV layout and…
CHAPTER ONE: BASE TERRAIN BACKGROUND: I decided to take a look at the Spanish Topology Institute and it turns out that they have the whole country measured with a grid step of 5 meters! I decided take the file of the river where I went last holidays as a base terrain. These files are tipically cloud points (*.asc and…
One of the screenshots id released for Rage -- while explicitly talking up how awesome the animation system was and how characters interacted in the world -- had a characters foot going straight into the floor. I was going to make a point with that but, actually, it's just a funny observation. Too many possible reasons to…
