Ya definitely story, and location/setting? Where is this supposed to be. And I think its interesting that you chose not to include the front of the windmill which is admittedly the most interesting part in your shot... Maybe go back to the drawing board on this one, and work out a pleasing composition and shot /w…
Of course it´s sad if the 3D version sucks ; ) edit: what I wanted to say: afaik 2D artists really like to see their work translated into 3D. I´ve recently used a concept and contacted the concept artist and it was very cool to ask him how he imagined several parts I was unsure about. Great fun : )
I absolutely love this concept omg. The third thumbnail stood out to me the most because it shows off her legs in action which are a central part of her character, and the backlight almost gives her that angelic look which contrasts with the reaper look of her design. I think you could do a lot with the light reflections…
The metal parts don't read as metal, ex the gold parts, the pistol, the metal hand, keys etc, and you prob want some golden colored spec for golden parts.
I would also say: - mix up the difficulty of your "small projects", don't do all the barrels, chest first only to get stuck on the difficult parts later. This can lead to a serious burn-out. I would suggest starting with the difficult models first and when you realize your momentum slows down, do one or two small props to…
One time I applied for a company as an environment artist, and they had me doing a UI art test. Needless to say, it was an epic fail on my part, and it was a good indication I didn't actually want to work for the studio in question. They seemed really confused and disorganized. Not saying that is the case here, just…
Very cool man really like this. I am still learning as well. I only learnt what UV's are and how they work a few days ago, that was after studying them for a good few weeks lol. You've done a real good job for your first asset though dude. Just as Alex said, you could have defo mirrored some of your islands there and…
I thought I had gotten it working in my earlier post, but now I can't remember the exact steps I took. Do you notice something I may need to do? I've now gotten to the step in my workflow to fix the normals of my models. When I pull the FBX back into maya the smoothed edge between parts returns to a seam. Here is my…
i really don't get your deal snap. VB ignore snap for some reason he seems intent on sabotaging your progress as an artist. your mechs are all decent. the textures could use a some work , but all in all they are not half bad. your organics on the other hand need a LOT of work. you seem to be making blobs with an ocasional…
Yeah, but genes don't "understand" what is art or math. They can only develop specific part of the brain that has the job of lets say thinking or calculating. So that persons maybe has easier time calculating but he is not in any way superior to any other human being simply because everything has to be learned.
