Since the boat is metal the texture will need to be driven mostly by spec / metallic map. The reflection are what make it feel like metal. Beyond the actual texture, you need to add the rivets on the side and the water line. Right now the side of the boat is a solid blank texture, if you loo at the reference the metal is…
I've never done work for the studio at home. I know here at Turbine people do work from home often though-they have VPN credentials and such so they can log in. When they do, it's usually only for the 40 hour work day though I know some of the artists will work a little over the weekend.
Good luck and voted! What's to stop people entering any PC username and voting though? Unless it only worked since I was logged in at the time? Also groups also seem to have an advantage here if all members can vote for their own entry over individual entries. Hopefully these things won't be a problem though.
I just heard that there was a new Riot Art Contest and logged in to check things out and stumbled upon this. I'm rooting for this design (the "underdog") because Corki was one of my favourite characters, and this reminds me of the "Corgi Corki" design I made back in 2014. This looks great, good job and best of luck. Happy…

I logged in just to praise your work. I have been away from computers for the last few days and this is an awesome model+textures though I agree with johny. You could do it without alphas. Either way it's really good and it inspired me. I couldn't believe it when I saw the poly count.
Hello! Im a game art student at College for Creative Studies and computer programming student at University of Illinois. Im excited to start logging my progress in terms of 3d modeling! Im open to all critics , learning is the best part of being in a field with constant upgrades/patches! These are a few images of my recent…
Your common tools are the 3d packages, mostly for hard surface models and base meshes. Zbrush, Mudbox for sculpting. Photoshop for texturing. + lots of other third party tools or plugins that can help you with specific tasks. The most common workflow is to create hipoly meshes and bake them onto low poly meshes that will…
I think I get what ye mean. Even in Lego, I have a tendency to spend 5 pieces when 3 would do. Maybe I am spending way too much time trying to get uneven verts to line up correctly in the cardinal directions, or attempting to hide them with trim. Starting over wouldn't be that much of an issue, I still have the textures…
Woo! You guys have been most encouraging. Really appreciate all the comments! @Two Listen- Definitely something good to know and put into consideration. For this character it's hard to tell how it's attached in the concept. Perhaps some straps around the head underneath the helmet? Something I plan on doing though is to…
