this environment is looking great, one thing i noticed is with these shipping boxes. in my experience they only normally put the corner bits of cardboard on the top of the pallet/stack, as the point of it is to protect the boxes from being damaged by straps when loading them onto a truck, or by straps holding them to the…
truly amazing work - there's just a few small things that caught my attention: 0:10 whats the lighter shape in the centre of the newspapers? could be lighting but seems to appear as if you're clipping backwards through a poly? the newspapers themselves seem very flat too - could maybe do with a normal map? 0:25-0:36ish the…
hm, i came in contact with rapid prototyping at work, since i´ve learned this kind of work some years ago basicly you are creating a model layer by layer building up the profile with a laser (or whatever technique you use) we used it to build prototypes to cast aluminium parts, so we wont have the hassle to create real…
not too sure this is a spoiler but ill still treat it as such. for the most part, all of this info comes from gearsipedia after i was just interested in doing research on sires. oh yeah! my take on gears 3. awesome! the story was really cool. the art was amazing and i loved how the art changed from chapter to chapter. game…
I dont see how "organic" or "inorganic" uvs would help in getting a different normal map. Same thing with the lack of straight lines. Yes, straightening up those uvs woud definitely help you texture it easier. Remember, you need to use the plannar mapping technique abundantly for inorganic models. For improving your normal…
Looking good! Even though i agree somewhat that the first hour is important as far as character faces are concerned, the hours that follow arent any less important either. I just think you would improve more if you actually spend time on your sculpts. Case in point. You are to paint a painting of an apple. Would you…
Thanks guys!! Matroskin: I knew your little avatar image looked famliar. Used to see you on CGTalk every now and then...anyways.. The UVs are set up so each piece has its own UV space, so there won't be tiled textures. I am using 1 2048x2048 for the building, which also includes a few variant pieces. Will most likely use a…
Hi and welcome to the forum! I look foward to seeing all your work! so, as far as the piece are you using any reference? Also the center piece seems a little messy, I'm having trouble seeing whats going on, and my eye doesnt exactly know where to go. Compisitionally you need to figure out a focal point otherwise our eyes…
Well, they can always give it a go or revive within 3D space just like Minecraft or FEZ? Arent these voxel art? However, I like this guy and his article! He reminds me when I'm pesting agasint CG animation feature films when I prefer the art of traditionnal 2D movies. I understands hisfrustration and he is partially right.…
Some kind of weekly review which would end up being more critical and specific about the things in the weekly recap would be useful and no doubt insightful. This could either have some of the people present in the recap talking about their pieces (more useful for technical/3d work perhaps) Or just respected people offering…
