The broadleaf doesn't have extensive roots. Ideally I would like to see how long, crawling roots are made using this program. I haven't used it much, so it's still fairly foreign to me.

Yeah the extent of the real currency purchases are very limited, they have no advantage over players that don't spend extra money on the game, the only people that have an edge are the ones that play more, or have played longer.
could be your graphics driver... if its working with sculpting or not does not say its working with painting... have you tried to delete the mudbox settings folder in myDocuments\ it will reset mudbox... are you on the latest mudbox extension..?
Right click on the "Percent Snap toggle" (little magnet with the % sign). In the tab "Home grid" up the amount in "Perspective view grid extent". All the other options that relate to the grid can also be changed in that window.
