Hy! Better if use MMB+Ctrl+Alt to zoom. I know this is not a good answer but still work. Recently I bought a cheap gamer mouse (~30$) and configure the extra buttons to Pan/Zoom/Scroll.
once i found out that my childhood dream of being a firetruck or a dinosaur wasn't going to happen so i decided to make games since all they do is hit buttons all day and sit.
That area is the Zscript Window - you can't place objects there since it is a text field. Just use the 'H' key to hide it (or ZScript > Hide ZScript), and place your buttons under or above the existing ones instead.
@SimonT, Its tricky, but it is in the way. In fact, there is a hidden button on the interface for Stitch, but I never got it working as I wanted so I removed the option. It was placed under the Align by Edge icon. Thank you!
Well you can just select them all and click with the right mouse button and convert to editable poly, this will colapse everything. Export it and ctrl + z so you don't lose your layer stacks.

Try selecting the polygons that are not the supporting edge and use the planar button. Just flop between X Y Z and undo 2/3 that won't work. Because right now the area looks a lil wonky.
Yeah some depictions have a lever for the activation and some say its a rune (basically a button) on the handle, not sure which to go with. EDIT: Never mind I realized what you actually meant now!
No prob. I always feel a little silly clicking through all of the new buttons each time I upgrade, but I occasionally find something worthwhile. No point in others having to suffer through the clicking. ;)
under customize > preferences > viewport tab down at the bottom, go to 'configure driver'. under 'appearance preferences' set the check buttons to the highest setting (1024). also, try ticking "match bitmap as closely as possible"
