I actually have an fx1800 installed...and its been a while since I think about switching it for a SLI evga 570gtx. I do mostly vray or mental ray rendering and I thought the fx1800 was gonna cut but I dont find its worth what I payed for it... anyone having switch from a quadro to a single or dual (500+ gtx) here?
In terms of travel, I bought a cheap Wacom Bamboo back in like, '06, and it's still working today despite 3 intuos' dying in the mean time (their usb ports are TERRIBLE). Been around the world and on countless commutes. All it's paint has worn off and it still works just fine. I've come to love it. As for a machine, just…
EarthQuake: Thanks! I know you're a judge and stuff but if you had some free time it would be AWESOME to see what you came up with just for fun. Would love to see it! Vrav: the models might be a little exaggerated but because we're using PBR I'd like the materials to be as realistic as possible to keep in line with the…
if you use vray you can animate the ball and put a plane where the blueprint would be, give it a white material, rightclick it and under vray options you need to set the alpha distribution to -1 and affect color and shadows ticked.
I plan on posting up updates daily, if I have an extremely busy day of production it would be two days for an update at the most. It does require setting aside about an hour each day, firstly to compose videos for Youtube, to take some screenshots, and to update all the social sites. The name fatBOX...well it may sound…
From what I've read it's extremely close to the current Titan card (minus 1GB of VRAM), so just look at benchmarks for that and you'll have a good idea how it'll perform.
Ok great man thanks, I'm glad that's possible cause it'll save me plenty of time! Is that all there is to it or are there some features or steps I need to know in between? I've never projected details in zbrush but it's probably easier than it sounds. So once I have that projected can I create a displacement map from that…
vray is very good with presets but you'll learn a lot more with mental ray and imo its a much more powerful rendered. as for the wine glass most of what you see with glass is reflection and refraction so rending it in a white box is asking for trouble. try creating a very simple environment to render in and see how you fare
This is proving to be a big update. I set out to get some finalized models and a texture down for the walls. Though I think they can have a few more textural details, The progress allows for some huge gains on all of the wall sections. Trying to refine that, I've added a basic amount of specular variation in my base…
