Heres a big story for those interested in Think Tank and my experiences going there. ( I wish I had this much insider info when I was applying, so hopefully this can help others in some big decisions. ) At the time I went to Think Tank (June2011), along with Ryswick (hey dude!) the tuition was much lower than it is now. At…

seems like its not using lightmaps. it looks like its using vertex lighting. does the model have a 2nd channel for lightmaps? double click the asset in the browser, is it pointing to the correct channel for lightmaps? also. this thread is for all UDK issues: http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=67290
ya the thing with the extra loop around the edge just really hit me when i saw your 2nd screen shot. you could prolly add that loop and scale it out a bit without even haveing to touch the texture or uv's since it is a pretty small change.
In addition to the above pictures are the UVs for this prop. The squashed set of UVs work but I feel like it shouldn't be done like this. The 2nd version is what is giving me problems although I thought it was ok to do that for a tiling texture. And here are the lightmap UVs which is the same for both versions
I think the 2nd concept is a lot stronger and more interesting, but if you're just looking for something simple to practice UE4 on the first is certainly a lot more modular and offers some good materials to study. I'd say do the first as a learning experience and then do the second as a portfolio piece.
That's awesome, and so simple too. I've been concentrating so hard on the painting aspect of this I forgot the other tools in my chest I could be working with. The full banner is already off to print but this addition is definitely going into a 2nd run version of the file. Thanks a bunch @RN!
Yeah, I just watched the 2nd episode hoping it would get better...nope. This show is awful. Just terribly acted, poorly written and the shooting/visual style is completely uninspired. Tho...I really like Eureka and Stargate: Universe, so...different strokes for different folks.
Right now I don't know what I would model different for the helmet, I made. Would it be better to try to model the viking like helmet in the 2nd photo from destiny? It looks pretty straight forward to make if I did or make my own twist on it?
Well it looks good so far. I like the 2nd picture of your 1st post. I think you nailed that part. ;) The pillar though doesn't look like the one in the concept. There is a lack of details, but I'm not sure if you want that to be like that. But good job so far. :)
