Good stuff in here man, the latest sculpt looks really cool. I thought it seemed kind of soft but the renders on your portfolio look really sharp, probably just the Matcap you're using in the updates making it seem softer than it is. The Squig is awesome too, I think I prefer it with the simpler texturing you did in your…
The normals look very soft and squishy - is this a style you are going for or did you just run the straight diffuse through crazybump? Sometimes I find creating a greyscale version of your diffuse texture from scratch will give the best results, especially for hard surfaces such as these. To touch on the lighting - the…
After some problem finding decent refs i think i got it together. Still some stuff to do, like the inside of the "magazine" and some more.. This was also a school assignment to do a HP-LP, bake it and texture it. The choice of what object to do was free, but it had to have two materials and both hard and soft shapes. So, a…
Flux 1.0 (Soft Boolean parent) is now free. Works only with Houdini 16 and 16.5 You can download it to get basic understanding on how modern SB works. Flux has a little worse topology in comparison with the modern SB and has another options, but it works and it's free. Also Flux has a retopology toolset which can help you…
I'm not sure, it might be flipped faces? Why is it world normals? Shouldn't the bake be tangent space? Are you doing something special with shaders? The mud looks soft or smooth on the tank, it's even smooth a bit around where there isn't mud. Mud which turns to dry dirt is going to be more harsh, instead of smooth. You…
I love me some flying red pig too. And to a much much smaller degree Tail Spin. I've always loved the Sunderland Flying boats, but really have a soft spot for the Gumman Goose. Gumman had some pretty awesome and wild designs. the F2F, FF/SF and the J2f were pretty amazing. Always dreamed of owning a Goose some day... some…
Pillar tutorial 10/10, my 2 cents is regardless of which app you use (zbrush imo) if possible could you go into more depth how exactly you create the appearance of crumbling, rocky type damage if indeed you cover this is in your next tutorial. Just found it difficult for my pillar not to end up like soft melted chocolate!…
Generic, repeating bloodstains looks dumb indeed. Maybe that can be deactivated..Sometimes less is more. I like char modeling overally, even the chunky females... they're fighter after all, gotta look strong (kinda tired of skinny soft model girls wielding huge swords with baby arms and that shite) I ve loved NWN, I'm…
I prefer where possible to draw in where I want sharp edges with bulge or soft and build up each side to roughly flat, then use flatten/smooth either side, and then accentuate the edge with pinch. Just doing it with pinch I find leaves too many polys bunched up at the sharp edges and loses potential detail elsewhere. Maybe…
Clean design, easy to find stuff. I definatly like your rocky landscape best, nice mood and I have always had a soft spot for semi-cartoony Jak&Dexter textures. And could you please tell me how you have tiled the brick and rooftile texture in the handheld enviroment scene? I just can't figure out how you have done it.
