great work! how long did you spend on this? My only nitpick is the store front under the "Southern Fried Chicken" sign seems very flat like a picture on a plane. Could definetly add more geo there, unless its just a weird angle on your screenshot
For extra throwback feel ( ala software rendered tomb raider ) you could make sure all your meshes have hard surface normals when imported into Unreal. Or just recalculate the normals using ddx ddy and plugging it into Material's normal output too. Just an idea :)
@Itholon So, how did you do the texture ? Just Photoshop or dDO or Substance ? How do make those scratches and dirt and stain in certain specific areas ? I think the metal parts are a little too reflective, but it looks pretty nice there. Great job finishing it on time ^^
I'd suggest not using drawings as refs, only photos. Did you try Pinterest ? I'm sure you'll find a lot of good refs. If you can't find a perfect model sheet, just take one of a normal woman and add some flesh using photo refs.
update I am going to add some tattoos on his face I was thinking of just making the head but I may go ahead and do a full character also this is using the 3point shader, which is an awesome shader you guys did a great job it's an awesome shader
Now to add diffuse details /material definition and work on a better specular. But I think this is a nice base to start working from. Thanks dDo ;) Also need to build a nice material for the paper, if anyone has any advice / material refs for it please do let me know~
No. I did not really have time yesterday and used stock assets from sandbox. I planned to simply adress which things are not made by me, and also add renders of house alone. Anyway have 16 hours left will see what I can do :E.
Actually, creating a new scene fixed the problem. I think UDK May version made things went wrong (and it's slower) in my case. I stay with the April one. Also, in the past, I did not need to add a lightmass volume, now it's a must. In some way... Thanks!
Yeah, separate bits that can be attached. You can do this with simple things like scopes and mags, or take it the full way and start with a receiver and add the grip, barrel etc. I'm sure there was a talk on how Borderlands did it, and there is also a video floating around from Army of Two.
Did a little work on this, added a haystack...Well one hay stack duplicated. I may try to add a cart next, then some grass...but one thing at a time. Good height for the haystack? width? No bump map or anything, just a texture map...Time 30-45 minutes?
