Actually... I think I've changed my mind on this. It's substantially stronger than the $2,700 Surface Book (faster GPU with 4x the VRAM), with the extremely useful addition of the side keys, and can be used as a 16" Cintiq, valued at roughly $1,200. Meaning it's technically worth over $4,000. -

3.3Ghz+ CPU and more cores is better for rendering so go AMD. I don't care what others say about intel/hyperthreading, a workload split between more workers is more stable IMO. Tom's says so as well. ASUS motherboards have good overclocking options if you're into that. Just make sure the socket type is the same as the CPU.… -

High end cards aren't necessarily bad for 3D work, their just not a good deal. You'll see diminishing returns for you dollar after a mid range card, except when playing games.
