concept is cool, i'd like to see some gloves and greaves to match. what direction do you plan on taking as far as modeling goes i.e. low poly vs. current/next gen? What size human is this supposed to fit? Consider how the helmet is going to fit between the large shoulderpads, and how the horns might clip through the spikes… -

yeap like everyone said- spec map needs some lovin. also I`m not sure about 12800 tris. Seems a bit steep but I could be wrong. I know charachters in UT3 run the 6000-8000 range it seems as if thats as "next gen" as it gets right now. I`d say on your next project try a nd hit a lower poly count. Super kickass otherwise.… -

The density of the mesh in some places and especially that boot would be making the body near impossible to work with effectively. Typically a detail map is a smaller texture (say 256x256) that tiles hard across the surface of your model with a high texel density. They are used in next gen-shaders togheter with a bigger size diffuse or color map for variation. u blend the two textures togheter in the shader (say multiply the diffuse on the detail)… -

Generally speaking, watching someone else play an FPS for any length of time would make me ill. I used to get sick during Quake 2 level reviews back at id and would need a strong dose of pepto-bismol to recover. I think it may be related to why some people get sick in the back seat of cars, but are OK if they are driving.… -
