I don't think having a large number of small modules necessarily hurts performance. If the geometry for a module is instantiated in VRAM once (eg. at the start of each frame), then drawing lots of these instances doesn't have much overhead. Depending on how it's done, having smaller modules could even result in better… -

Yea the basic idea is to get the black-and-white mask that you can quickly do color adjustments in Photoshop or other apps. It's faster that way compare to trying to adjust light colors and render over and over. Most render engine these days has a pre-built AO pass/element for you to use. I meant coincidental in the up axis. For instance, quadrilateral loops in a CUBE( in which case how would u designate the vrt order for those vrts that are in the SAME height position? ) Wouldn't those vrts that couldn't be differentiated by height affect sorting benefit then? -
