You either can't move it or you need to use a modifier key - I forget exactly. It's probably documented though, check the website

Can you post a screenshot? The Unwrap modifier highlights texture seams with green, but I don't know if that's what you are talking about.

What exactly did you change? Also, if you put a lattice modifier on your model it will be easier to see what you've done.

the trouble with modifying an existing substacne is that I've had trouble creating a brick texture which has the correct height/length size ratio.

You have to use the edge split modifier or if you want more control rip the edges by hand like game engines do.

In max you would apply the skinwrap modifier, click, convert to skin and then delete the old mesh. Maya probably has something similar.

Thank you ~~ yes, I use substance designer generate tileable textures but sometimes use painter to modify or layering materials too.

I would suggest modifying the hand guard opening a bit. I think it'd make the overall shape a bit more interesting :)
