Yes,its used mainly for animation but some studios use it for rendering cause of its fast render time, not for movies of course.Looks nothing like mental ray or Vray but if u understand compositing and faking a lot of stuff in After Effects. The finished shot can be made to look so much better.Consider rendering out 1400…
For the UV, at least on UE4, there's a solution (I can't check if it works, because I don't have UE4) https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?1861-Tutorial-How-to-proper-export-a-FBX-scene-from-Cinema-4D-to-U4-with-2-UV-channels I don't like the UV tools too, but I'd like to see if with this:…
Yes this is a basic DDS compression issue, 24 bit images compress to 1/4th the original size, while 32 bit compresses to 1/2 the size of a 24 bit uncompressed texture (so the same vram as using 2 24bit DXT compressed textures). There is a lot of info on that in this thread and the tutorial linked in my sig, I won't explain…
Thanks for the response guys. I have been busy adjusting the things u pointed out while working on other shots.I felt if I should post anything it should be a post with an update. So I have fixed them and added some new stuff. Still using low final gather settings.I am still not happy with it.Should probably put pictures on…
The offline renderers(mentalray/vray/etc) do use pbr/pbs, and have been for over a decade. It's just different shading models. The latest derivative is Disney pbr which the games industry has adopted wholeheartedly. Mentalray uses reflection/glossiness. glossiness being the opposite of roughness. for a detailed offline…
On the front page, it looks like you only have one finished artwork. I just thought the picture didn't load all the way for a while. Might want to get creative on fixing that. Maybe seperate project pages, or categories? Also, if you're going for realtime jobs you want to use an Engine or Toolbag 2. Vray/Keyshot don't show…
I'm testing with Maya 2014 DX11 viewport 2. But I don't have any huge enough scene to see any differences so far. I've read about using filters with Vray however, that without any filter, the tiled EXR won't be able to partially load only what's needed but the entire texture would be loaded instead. I'm really curious if…
Figured I would resurrect this instead of a new thread. I'm in the market for a new monitor, but having trouble finding info about how a monitor might affect a linear workflow, or if there is anything I should know about it color wise. I have been working a linear workflow in vray, but am unsure how monitor technology…
No normal maps are allowed although you can bake down a renderer like Cycles or Vray to a diffuse map. If you use Gunsmith style you can do some neat things with specularity.
