Try editing the leaf normals with something like normalthief: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/normal-thief You can find more information about it here: http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryEnvironmentFoliage?highlight=%28%5CbCategoryEnvironment%5Cb%29
I stumbled upon to this recently and this guy seems to have a workaround: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?132415-Energise%B4s-Sketchbook-%28mini-tut-pge-5-6-amp-17%29/page17&p=1091923&infinite=1#post1091923
One trick I've used in Photoshop to tile a small section, was to use the freebie HalfWrap/etc. filters, which do an Offset centered on the current selection (instead of the whole canvas). Really handy. http://wiki.polycount.com/PhotoshopTools?highlight=%28halfwrap%29#Filters_and_Actions
It is really hard to tell what is going on with all that triangulation. Do you have a version that is still quads? Either way, check out this thread in the Polycount Wiki on face and head topology. http://wiki.polycount.com/FaceTopology?highlight=%28%5CbCategoryTopology%5Cb%29
in addition to JC's comments, I would recommend working with a cage to make sure everything translates to the map. Also modify the cage to get rid of the wavy lines... see here. http://wiki.polycount.com/NormalMap?highlight=%28\bCategoryTexturing\b%29#Solving_Wavy_Lines
I think a really timely example of this would be Ilya's portfolio thread in P&P. Some amazing work in there, some of it from Rogue Warrior - a game that managed a metacritic score of just 29. Do you think that will affect Ilya's employment prospects?
hahaha yes those have to be chunks of meat in that cake =P I'm 29 and I'm sure I will be telling some kids to get off my lawn and get a hair cut any day now. (Note I don't have a lawn...)
http://www.cinematical.com/2007/05/29/di...-shoot-a-pilot/ So a director for a TV show is flying in to film a pilot episode for a tv show, and in the airport when they ask "is your visit for business or pleasure?" he responds "I'm here to shoot a pilot!" HAHAHAHA!
never got to finish this properly for the gameartisans challenge. Its just flat shaded diffuse. Shes 3817 tris on her own. based loosely on william bourgeaurau art http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/William-Adolphe_Bouguereau_%281825-1905%29_-_The_Broken_Pitcher_%281891%29.jpg
