If you read my post you will see that I plan on doing both ;) @TychoVII The only refs I used were the two images posted earlier in the thread :) Will continue working on the diffuse and spec maps, still some ways to go before calling it done :)
Have found some panther references and am currently working off of those. Ignore the rogue vertex in the back leg there, will have to eliminate that later! Is this more for what I should be aiming for? I've only done the upper bit at the moment, will continue on lower following feedback :)
@Eric Chadwick Thank you so much for your thorough insight! It all comes down to becoming an efficient member of production pipeline, I see. It would definitely help me if I continue learning zbrush and maya trying to fasten up my works.
A few sheets of initial design. Great fun and a learning experience. Anything can change but it is a frame from which I can continue.....Lack of stylus forced me to use pen and paper and a relatives scanner! When I get home things will change:) [/IMG]
I want one! I might try and hold out till they ship with leopard though. I love using my macbook whenever possible, and dual booting would be a small price to pay to continue using XSI - if you even need to do that with leopard.
There's nothing wrong with combining the geometry even though it doesn't make a continuous mesh, we do that all the time. Simply combine them into a single object. Not judging here, but is this your retop you're showing? That could be cleaned up and made much more efficient for animation.
Nothing wrong with being cautious, am getting to anxious to wait for reviews. Nothing worse than spending $60 and not enjoying it. But the way I see it, to continue playing WoW will cost $55 so its an equal shot. Daven, is the "pretty gear" wearable back in pve?
I did Delete Unused Nodes; the scene continues to render black, this wasn't the case before I ran File Texture Manager. I know File Texture Manager is strictly for moving files from one location to another; I can't figure it out ?
Yeah I was just wondering about my speed and if I was heading in the right direction for high res models in Maya. Looks like we are all using similar techniques, so I will continue with my current workflow for non organic high res models.
I've been a long time Polyboost user and lover, and whether the creator continues to develop these tools in the future with Autodesk remains to be seen... But one thing is for sure - this is going to give 3ds Max users THE best poly modelling toolset in the industry - period - straight out of the box.
