currently stuck working on the high poly, obviously since im new to this i figured id run into some problems and heres my first one. edge termination without ruining the nice smooth area of another part i extruded in the ridges in the grip but i havent been able to figure out the best way to terminate the ends. in the…
Cross section no. but at least an edge effect. For a cross section you'd need to do some slicing, or other intersection that would need some custom render pipeline support, as in the wind waker stencil buffer tricks, or to have every material in the scene be able to react to explosions so the shading effect would be…
I agree with what has been said above. Also, is that wood you have on the part holding the axe blades? If so, I'd get rid of that. If it's a molten axe, then the wood would just burn off. As for the Rock parts, right now i get the feeling that it's some sort of sci-fi axe because it looks like metal and the blade looks…
The best i can recommend is making smaller props and then creating a small scale scene out of it. I was afraid to take on environments when i first started, but you need to disect it all into smaller parts instead of looking at the big picture!
Okay guys here are the final shots. You can check the video on my Artstation : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/rR3b2e Scene is rendered in Unreal 4 without Ray-Tracing. I was responsible for all aspects of the project. Some additional info about the idea behind it. Levitation Car "JL - Elite Edition Model" is futuristic…
The example you have there is a camera which has parts of painted metal. The variation in the cracks that you mention is because those are areas where the paint has chipped off and is revealing metal underneath. However in your case your chipped rock just reveals more rock so it should still be the same. In regards to the…
Thanks for the replies, I will share some character examples here: http://i.imgur.com/MMyBrQa.jpg It's no mere coincidence that that each texture has the exact same texture space for each part of the body. I think it's so that they can paint cloth textures only once, and apply it to all characters. The only problem with…
Nah, I just missed that one sentence smart guy. Any ways, from the image Drav has so graciously provided, it looks like the actual glass part of the headlights can just be extruded from the edges you already have around the section where the lights are. There's enough detail there for them. However, it depends how you're…
Today was a hard one I again started with the full body and cut the parts that had no detail away at the end. It's really hard to get a full human body figure. The torso is getting easier and the parts around it as well. But when the body pose is far stretched from a T-pos and the arms are close to the body it's really…
Thank you guys, the support from the community has been overwhelming, and youre all part of that. I cannot say how much it means to me. Also, glad you like my stuff :D
