Thanks, Vrav and Dan! Today's progress... EDIT: After thinking about it further, She's back to being known as the "Blitz Widow." Somehow, she wound up becoming a cyborg of some sort... I took a few pieces that I liked from the other riders. I'm still debating on a few points, though. 1. I'm wondering if I should give her…
study your materials really really well and USE ALL THE MAPS AT THE SAME TIME. often if you make your spec after your diffuse, your spec will just turn into an afterthought. you must work with the all your maps at the same time to realistically portray an active, dynamic looking material. as far as i know, with DXT alphas…
Well, you should check your normal map in some sort of realtime viewer/shader to make sure its working correctly, then you will know its a problem with vray or your settings in vray. I do not know much about vray, just that I've seen people have issues with normal maps and vray.
Yeah, there shouldn't be another 6 core processor anytime soon. Ram makes very little difference, as long as you have enough. A good SSD and more VRAM are typically much more useful and provide a bigger performance gain. There's some certain uses where ram speed might be a bottleneck, but not really for games or game art.
An update of a cool concept I decided to bring into 3d. I couldnt find the artist who did this, so if anyone comes across it online please let me know. Tried some clay renders on the guy using 3ds max + vray. Planning to go further to develop the game res and then texturing. Thanks for watching !
I remember talking about this and the conclusion that was reached was: there's already overlap. Games and Movie pipelines are increasingly getting similar. You see people posting high poly sculpts in the 3D section even without the low poly/game ready mesh. There have also been art dumps where entire assets were rendered…
Sorry for that. I meant using Arnold or Vray with some lighting for rendering as opposed to just using the snipping tool straight out of Zbrush. I'll make some high quality renders from now on. Thanks for the link btw.
Here are my thoughts on the topic, I haven't implemented nor have the skills to do so either, but just from general experience and some light research on the topic: Its not going to be something you'll throw on every object, has some really great uses, but not a universal system. Works much better in some situations than…
Hmmm, I think it might be something else since my old computer had worse specs than yours and everything ran fine even after a full day of intensive use and having 3dsmax, photoshop and a browser(chrome) open all the time! Right now I use a dual-core 3.06Ghz Intel with 4GB DDR3 and 256MB VRAM, also it is built into a…
