The 3d world doesn't spin around hand-painted textures. If you don't like them, don't do them. Try realistic texturing, maybe it's more up your valley.
I'll take the straight up handpainted one if I wanted to err towards a strict illustrated feel. The ZBrush one errs towards a more realistic depiction on the spectrum of handpainted textures.
well Tits i don't know, nothing fancy and exceptional. Just spent a lot of time placing meshes correctly. yeah Hammer, eyes are too big, it's supposed to be semi realistic :)
your zbrush work is really "serious" looking, i spose it should be since textured models are the more cute variety. youd be good at making comics become more realistic and scary.
Good start. Looking at the concept art it's very bold and colorful, and so far the scene looks rather clean and realistic. I realize it's still early WIP but that's something to keep in mind.
These are the references ive got for barret Should I gather photo references of say Mike tyson even tho the character will be more like a cartoon than realistic? Thanks for responding by the way :)
Not sure if anyone mentioned it but borderlands looks well, and they from what i know have handpainted textures. And nicely stylized graphics can look better than wannabe realistic graphics.
Go Lucas! I also kind of chuckled how realistic the concept art looks for the characters. And then the game's like "We gonna pare it down, yo." That color palatte for the levels hnnngggg
Added in some more grain and value shifts, it's getting borderline realistic so I don't think I will push the detail any more. Probably too many knots still?
Trying to block in color and tried to color a detailed face. I'm not too experienced with painting and I'm especially not experienced with the semi-realistic faces in Riot's art style but I'm gonna try.
