Bionic Commando had a story? I just hope it's fun, the design of the character is kind of lame, is he really going to go all batman, swinging around with no armor or protective gear on? I just hope they let you use the hook to hit things and do all kinds of cool shit like you could in the NES version. Alex
A good thing to do before you start on the armor, is to completely define the shape of the guy before you start on it. What I like to do, is to throw together some primitives, and vert pull here and there untill I have the outline I want. Then build the mesh over that. But yeah, looks too early in the process to give any…
that pointy collar thing would be annoying imo. I have to say conceptually, this reads almost as fantasy armor, with a little bit of sci fi. I can work my brain to see it the other way too, but yeah. Planetside as I recall has a starsiege tribes vibe to it; as a graphical update this seems kind of divergent so far.
The horse-half [deer?] looks too long in comparison to the legs, and the whole thing looks a little small compared to the human torso. I think the armor could use some additions to really make it look like it was made for a centaur, instead of just a human torso plopped on an ungulate with straps. So to sum up; awesome…
Wow. You rock. I love the colors in both paintings and the way the light is used. The night is just awesome. I like like both the sword and the armor. The room looks great too. I like the way the flames bend in the wind and I think the books must have been though to do. And again just wow. Great work.
that was very cool. I've always wanted a suit of Scout trooper armor but the cost is too great for me. anyway, while on the subject of C3. did you see the new footage Mcallum showed? I grabbed an avi of it and it looks amazing!!! That coupled with Kevin Smith's review of ROTS makes the wait seem that much longer for me.…
Moved on to creating some armor pieces and getting some details into the gauntlets face changed a bit too, that atrocious mess around his thighs, should look better after i finish some of the tweaks using Rodrigo Goncalves's method for creating fur, hopefully i can get it baked down enough to not affect my tri limit.
Aion definitely uses normal maps. It's expensive to do per pixel stuff in MMOs as most of them composite textures together based on the armor you put on. It bloats hells of fast. Guildwars had normal maps even--they just were not displayed right. Only on environments, though. We've since righted that wrong. =) So much…
This brings up another thought: What if I want to swap out pieces of armor, or hair, which have bones and animation in them? For example, a character can have 3 hairstyles (diffeent sorts of ponytails or dreadlocks for example). Do all versions of this characetr need a unique mesh? Could all versions use the same animation…
yeah I just couldnt think of a way to finish off that front crotch panel all the way around so...thong armor=legit, lol Thanks. I'm sure I'll think of a better way down the road, I'm still getting a feel of the high poly. Now I'll work on the quiver and then the bow.
