When I create a new DDO project (with optimize mesh unchecked, as always) it initially loads the mesh scrambled. I can re-import the same mesh in 3DO settings and it seems correct.

Yes that was my initial impression as well. Fifa 21 on the other hand looks pretty good in this department so perhaps it is workable by now at least for certain situations.
I've finished this demon statue the other day. After doing retopo and blockouts for a while on stream I felt the need to sculpt for a bit and ended up doing this statue. It was supposed to be a harpy initially but kinda turned more into a demon at the end.. More images and videos on Artstation:…

after you initialize zbrush go to document/"save as startup doc" you probably have a startup doc saved already with that sphere embeded it. hope this works
