Thanks for your input, DWalker. Yeah, here's the reference I used. Even still, I think I can definitely lose more bolts along the inner rings as the number of bolts in my model clearly don't match the reference. Also, i should probably describe where the tire meets the rims better in my model. Thank you! -

alrighty then, here is my first update for the day... went out to play some broom ball in an ice ring tonight... lots of fun, going to be feeling it ALL in the morning! It's a mortar, rather than a cannon, just in case you're labeling it in a portfolio. ;) Mortars of the period usually had iron mounts, but those with wooden mounts were made from thick planks, rather than a single piece of wood. The rings really don't belong; the mortar was far too heavy for a half-dozen guys to just pick… -

I love this dude, pretty awesome. One thing I would say though, is that the skin material is a little bit dull. The other materials, like the gloves and shoes seems just about spot on, but the skin needs to be a bit glossier to show the natural oils on skin. Love the sculpt though, I would NOT want to be on the other side… -

aside from what everyone else has said about the gold, I think you could add some extra geometry to the exploded barrel, have the metal ring bent out where the wood is missing, know what I mean? And it looks like you have room to throw those UV's into your texture you already have. -

Hi Mr Bear, good progress! I like every 3d art from Lord of the rings or Hobbit. In my opinion, the grass is too saturated and you can add more color variation. In inspiration image i can see some yellow grass. But keep goinng. I am looking forward next image of your progress. Jakub Bareš -

Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yeah, you're spot on about the grip, I think it suffered from being the first retopologized component of the gun. A couple of those rings could definitely stand to be collapsed. I'll also see about doing some more heavy, character building wear when I get the optics ready to put on. Thanks… -

hmm, a couple. started at a grocery store bagging stuff, pushing carts, cleaning bathrooms and ringing people up. I did that until college and then got a job at blockbuster for a bit then gamestop for a couple of years. wasn't too bad because I had some rad managers. Oh, I also helped deliver milk once at 4am. Never again. -

Ka-Bar handles are not actually made out of wood, they are circular rings of leather compressed together : manufacturing process. You could try selecting it on the mesh itself (outside the uv editor) with loops and rings to get your edges then turn uv-editor on and you'll have them selected. You could also try texture tools plugin, maybe it has some selection stuff in there you can use:…
