If you want a more recent version I zipped up my directory (couldn't find the original archive) for Beta 8 which I believe is the last update they did. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27624662/Alchemy-Beta008.zip
I didn't say that - I said working on something I wasn't passionate about was terrible for me. I worked in IT for about 8 years and almost went down the path of getting certifications but I realized it was making me miserable.
Cheers guys! I'll get some proper comparison shots once I'm all done but here's one with the old model on the right. Old model is 427k tris and 27 materials, the new one is 139k and 8 respectively ATM.
mine is: 1. concept 2. zsphere base 3. sculpt naked char 4. sculpt clothes 5. either sculpt or box model add-ons 6. retopologise all 7. fix, uv and bake 8. texture.
I'm still waiting for official Windows 8 support. I'm aware that it somewhat works in 32 bit mode, but I'd love to get it working without any fiddling around and renaming files. https://twitter.com/cryengine/status/370499638685868032
Regardless of the consensus I would suggest you try a couple different ones. You're using the mouse for 8 hours at day. It should be something that works for you specifically. I've tried a couple people recommend and they didn't work for me.
But the problem with that argument was it only took into account color. You also deal with size. So unless say Ps or sketchup are limited to 256 steps for this in the same stepping pattern as 8 bit color, you are reducing your work fidelity.
Thanks, I tweaked the materials a bit. Here's a test with 8 layers, which is overkill but holds up quite well from a close distance. 4 layers looks pretty good from a distance though. edit: moar geo.
FoV and color blind options can actively discourage people from playing your game that want to. At least 10% of people can experience long term effects from motion sickness, and 8% of men are color blind. That's not insignificant.
I've been using xNormal for about 8 years now and have not found any compelling reason to use or try anything else. Maybe it's just personal preference, but I like having a non-Max/Maya baking solution.
