Hi Poly counters! I'm currently studying Games Design in University, and want to specialize in 3D environments. Though that doesn't mean that I don't want to improve in other areas that involve Games Design too. The programs I currently use for my work are as follows; Photoshop (concepts) Google Sketchup (for blocking out…
Hi, Im trying to render out a scene in MAX2012 and when I do my lighting seems to be all messed up. Heres a screen shot of whats happening... Uploaded with ImageShack.us This is how the scene shows up once it is Rendered (How i would like it too look) But this is how it comes out when I save the image... Uploaded with…
Hi Dasha, your post caught my eye, and though I haven't posted on this forum for a long time, I occasionally view threads because my background was in game design originally. Now I have been working in archviz for 15 years, 5 as a design director. In terms of critique and feedback, it depends on what role you would see…
Thank you for kind words it means a lot for me! You are completely right about complex scene, there are two problems though. First one is my unability to focus on one thing for a long period of time. It's bad for sure and I need to work on it. The second one is my laptop I work on, even the scene above required some…
Yeah Feanix, it's so tempting to just cover everything in lens flare, but I think it shows true skill when you can make an awesome scene without using fancy effects. Here's an update to the Sci-fi scene. I'm enjoying this so much, I might make an entire modular level out of this stuff. New to this is: post processing,…
Sorry for the double posting. I started a week long project based on Penguin Express. It's been done before on Polycount, but I've always wanted to do this scene, but always postponed it for when I got better. Now, I'm using it as a learning piece. I started yesterday. Since then, I've done a scene blockout in Maya,…
Hey Eric! Thanks a tonne for the feedback, its been really helpful. I really love the idea of a sinister element to contrast the calm in the rest of the image. I took your feedback and added in some depth fog, fix some scaling issues and added in a gallows scene. I'm trying to work on getting the right balance of making…
You are rendering with global illumination so this takes a while if you don´t precalculate your lightning as a irradiance map or lightcache in vray. You could also try to use another renderer if vray is still too slow for you. If you have access to maya or softimage you can try arnold which is really fast for outdoor…
making good progress! starting to look really awesome. But just as Fem Charles sed, add a few lights to hint at what is going on volume whise. Space above and below your scene. I can see that u added blue light but its mainly yellow light dominated. this is the other way around in your concept art. this changes the feeling…
Overall, I love the textures that are used in these scenes. However, I do agree that the scenes need to be more well thought out in the aspect of placing props, and objects. The renders do not do it justice, the composition and selection of beauty shots need to be thought out more. As for the last scene, I love the…
