I dunno that I could say what the best casual game ever is, and it toally depends on how you define casual. :P But a few that I really love are Shift, Zuma, Hexic, Geometry Wars and Puzzle Quest
oh and as for Venom dying. Eddie Brock Jr is definately dead (you could see his skeleton when the bomb when off) but there is still part of the symbiote left. Dr Connors was studying a small bit of it at his lab.

No, I realize that...but that is where my basis of defining "modular" comes from. And that is how I've carried modular over into what I've created for games. I'm quite sure most people's definitions would differ either way.

If you define success as achieving ever-higher ranks, then I think her advice about sociability holds true. People look for leaders that, well... lead. Think back on the best leaders you've had, and what qualities they had.
The portfolio doesn't show that you can define a material well. Since many of us have been there ourselves, its easy to look at a gallery and immediately see that issue. I would concentrate on learning material definition as best as possible.
Really good tips thanks. Most of these I have in mind anyway but I definately need to 1) Get some pieces worthy of putting into a portfolio and 2) getting a domain and putting together a site. Keep these tutorials coming they are great!
Alberto Rdrgz> The Viewport 2.0 and the new ShaderFX in Maya 2014 LT and Maya 2015 gets you quite far compared to how it was before. Definately a good step in the right direction towards game like real time rendering.
