I'm working on lighting for a mobile game. During testing, I found that I could not bake Arnold lighting in Max 2018 out of the box. I could bake Arnold directly in Maya 2017. Ultimately, we decided to go with VRay in Maya 2017.
Unfortunately not. But, the method I use is to put the Value Variation to 100 and set the Mutant Color to white. Or You can use VRayHairInfoTex and use Random by Strand index as the output type.
Good suggestions, sybrix. Regarding my rendering, sorry I don't know the difference between "engine" and "software rendering." I just rendered these shots using Vray; if that helps answer your question.
Dustinbrown. No, you dont need to guess that. I'm using 3dsmax/vray by the way. MikeF. I using jpegs in 4096x4096. Painted initially in zbrush them exported to photoshop and 3dsmax.
