for the 'muricans out there, A-levels are the UK equivalent to an AP. there's a lot of work that needs doing here, but it's better than some third year university students we've seen! i'm going to take a guess here and say that your grade rests on how visually pleasing it is rather than how technically well made it is?…
I think that for the most part his dialogue comes off as the unedited ramblings of a first-year philosophy and politics student. I find the constant stop-start between gameplay and cutscenes to be really jarring too. But hey, he is probably the closest thing to an auteur in games and I know a lot of people love the games…
Cheers, I'm a student doing portfolio work; and whilst i've created base mesh's in the past for my characters, I find it quicker and easier to use an existing base mesh either from Polycounts library or zbrush's default. Would you kindly advise, whether this was appropriate or would it be more beneficial to use my own base…
Really practice hard. As well practice smart. Feng Zhu School on Youtube does a great before and after video of his students and the biggest thing he stresses are the fundamentals. So take some time (okay take a lot of time) AND really get into the fundamentals of w/e it is you want to be great at. Modeling Texturing…
For starters the presentation could do with a lot of work. Right off the bat it screams 'student / amateur' which is not good. Have some faint shadows under the model, right now it's floating in a sea of white. Speaking of white, use more neutral background colours, the white is burnin' ma eyes. You should also look up 3…
Did you use zbrush for the plaster wall texture? I can see brush strokes in them. I'll copy paste something I posted in someone else's thread: I received that in an email after the blizzard student contest last year, along with a paintover that I posted in a previous thread I made a while ago. The rest of his email was…
This wouldn't be a piece by one of your students would it and your looking for a through critique to pass on? Or is this actually your blog? http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fqemum.org%2F EDIT: Yep looks like your blog, at least the avatars match...
nice, looking forward to that! and also.. wanna see some progress here :P we're doing a techdemo in unity over the next few months, trying to push it as much as possible (pbr and such).. I'm basically trying to soak up every piece of info I can grasp about environments as long as there's still time for pre production and…
Hi, I am a student as well and I also study
3DS Max. I am not sure but I think you just go to polygon mode and select a
part of polygon you wanted. And then you go to the polygon: smoothing groups,
you will be able to see the box with numbers from 1 to 32. You just select a
number of the polygon smoothing groups or match…
