I made a thing. for some reason max wouldn't export with proper skinning, so I used maya which was was being an absolute bastard exporting smoothing groups, but I got to work eventually. riki sets still go!
and then there's the issue of exporting content from 3d packages for cryengine2. last time i tried i had to install max 9(?) because i couldn't find an exporter for newer versions. maybe that has changed though, i'm not sure :)
Wow man! Thats a really odd ... Sorry that I cant help you. I didnt had this kind of troubles with exportation... Are you sure that you mark the option weld, while you exported your mesh? Thats weird...
@Synaesthesia Sure thing, I was already planning on it. :smile: Quick update: This is still being looked at, for now I am just using the unpacked UE4 export option, it seems like it is only an issue with the UE4 RMA packed export.
just make sure to turn smooth groups off in the fbx exporter settings. Spent 3 hours exporting and re baking before I figured that one out -_-. You can leave mesh smoothness on to retain hard edges.
Thanks guys : @e-freak : I used fibermesh to brush the guide, exported it as curves in max, used them with the hair & fur modifier and tweaked them (Clumping, flyaway, ...etc) I just exported them as geo in Keyshot for render
The longer you work with maya themore you realise what a bag of shit it really is. Export everything to fbx every hour or two and you'll lose less when it blows up in your face. Assuming the export works of course. .
Not if it's a .max file, you'll need to export to a different format preferably .obj If you got animations you'll have to ask someone over here about that as I do not know all the issues involved with exporting those. Good luck.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I tried resetting them that way but they were stuck. The way I fixed it was export/reimport using .obj and I didn't export the normals. So itd recalcute them i'd hope. And it worked!
Yea I would try both, Have you been doing a lot of importing/exporting into the scene? Possible the hyershade is getting cluttered with junk. I would just grab what you need and export them into a new scene.
