I think he has one already, otherwise he wouldn't be able to turn it on. You can't apply it because the intensity is set to 0

Just to make this thread informative I'll just add that you can remove the background gradient by moving the range slider to 0 in the document pallet.

On this mesh it's not very noticeable but on some of the others it was completelly messed up. THANKS !!! this solved my issue !!! I had to change it from 0 to 1.

You know, for a place with a tree, there is very little light in there. Try going out of the 0-to-1 range, really push the HDR, this is sci-fi!
