I see infested marines as a "psy storm" like effect, its a deterrent that can easily keep people from attacking, at least for another minute, or it can instantly reinforce your army. I love infestors, I need to get a new mouse so i can start playing the ladder more.
yeah...that's what i do. except i always render out solids after i lay out my uv's....then just bake whatever parts i want, when i want. then open the normal maps in pshop and slap them into place over my flats in my main psd file
if you think its a headache and complicated in games. go work in vfx/movies in a very rigid pipeline :D yeah this shit is annoying and the amount of maps/layers for a usual texture is insane. there was a tool for 3dsmax ages back that allowed to load a psd and it would rebake all layers. but thats ages ago and i didn't use…
Sorry, I got sidetracked and forgot all about this. Would this work for you? Set up a new hotkey in the editor with this as the command. To use it, have a selection, be hovering over some vertex, and press your key. string $highlighted[] = `ls -psh`; vector $highlightedPos = `pointPosition -w $highlighted`; manipPivot -p…
It could be an idea for a future version to have it so you can say what PSD and maybe a Layer Name to replace but that'd be sometime later haha. I want to try to get as many tedious parts of your guys' workflow scripted first before going and making them like the super awesome awesome versions
you don't have to sort anything. it's not transparency but rather like 1-bit alpha (cutout) with dithering so you just feed it a greyscale mask. alpha-to-coverage was the term we used for this like 8 years ago on PS3/X360. still the same i think, toolbag just happens to use a high quality version of it.
This is looking really sweet. I think you should add something in the center of the circular part. Like a fountain or a statue. I also think you should add some colorful flowers. Or at least a bit of warm colors. A bit like in Flower on ps3 with the red and yellow flower in an ocean of grass, really stand out.
What is the specific error? Maya will complain about certain image formats, and I know I've had problems with PSDs in the past. You could try a different image format, like IFF or TGA or something Maya has a history of supporting. Also, dumb suggestion - did you try using Texture Centric UV linking?
yes it is possible. you will need a HDR file for that. creating a custom HDR in photoshop does not always work but i found the convertPSD tool from Surface Mimic to be perfect for this use. just make a PSD file in photoshop with black, 50% grey and white for your stamp and make sure you are in greyscale 16bits/channel mode.
I'd recommend you stick to accuracy. The scope on the pic is a PKS-07 scope. I guess you could also put another dovetail scope like a POSP or a PSO scope on there. Model looks ok. Lotta tri's though, you're gonna have to build the highpoly from scratch again. If you wanna do one, that is.
