The only explanation I've ever heard is that the owner has very deep pockets. Doesn't explain what his master plan is but ... that's what I've heard. Maybe he's been trying to soak up users for the last decade, become the standard, and then make a killing on the 5.0 upgrade. Who knows?! -

Your best bet here is to use tiling textures, rather than trying to uniquely unwrap each piece - especially for things like walls. You can use smaller bespoke parts to break up repetition, mixed with with maybe something like a vertex colour blended shader and decals. -

My idea is to use a dynamic spline mesh with a decal material the modifies the displacement. As the wheel would go, it would pull out new spline points that would follow the movement of the wheel, and would snap to the terrain. Theoretically this can work, but it would require a custom spline mesh and custom shader. -

@Special KBS That looks fantastic! @JonConley Nice,i just figured if you're making a tiling texture repetition isnt that bad, you can always break it up with like vertex painting or decals. Thats atleast how i thought about it when i made a smaller pattern. -

Doesn't look too sci-fi for me (the walls) but the lower part of the walls in the right is repetitive, try to make some variation, make some supports for the beams to cut the repetitive parts. Maybe some subtle decals here and there wouldn't hurt. I really like the scene! Keep it up! ^^ -

good link I'll bare those comments in mind going forward So far made the basic pieces, windows/doors/upper and lower building parts. First attempt at joining them together. Obviously still needs additional props like air con units, signs and decals. -

It's work, just a ton of work. the artists you envy on artstation all did the same thing, worked for it for years and years, some of them for decades or more. as for getting a job or getting into the industry, it's the same. Work hard until you get your skill level to that quality, and you'll find a job. -

Looks like a great model and bake dude, it's crying out for colour though! Have you thought of camo or tactical colour schemes/decals? I'm also with BARDLER - you should really be using photoshop to texture your hard surface work. At the end of the day it's just more efficient. -

The yellow explosives decal looks worn away unrealistically. I suggest using a mask and lightly going back and forth with multiple scratch and grunge brushes because currently it looks like you chose a brush with fuzzy falloff and just erased. That's my only crit though. Very nice.
