Use 2 components. By default, show the intact mesh. On picking up, "set visibility" of that to hidden, and set visibility of the harversted one to visible. Or better, use one, and just "set static mesh". B)
poop, maya's folder browsing is shit compared to max. I installed this program so I can remap the default windows file browse dialog super helpful. http://melloware.com/products/placesbarv1/
You should be able to activate signitures in your options in your User Control Panel. Can't remember if they are on by default, maybe not. OT: I always start a blog then realise I have nothing to say.
Works here, i just unchecked 'user normal' and left the rest at their defaults. /edit - my bad, i was using advanced. obj import has been disabled in the exp version. sorry about that
You are most likely getting a blue screen. Windows hides them and reboots instead by default, google on how to disable system reboot on error, and you'll be able to see the error message next time.
Max's default unwrapping tools are more than enough for normal UVing. Once you get the hang of the basics look for some addons to help the process. Have you done the tutorials that come with Max?
you probably don't have the OBJ exporter loaded up, it's off by default. Goto Window --> Settings/Preferences --> Plugin Manager and check "objExport.mll" in the list and that will allow you to select OBJ as an export option
Looking good, though I favor Edelbrock's default aluminum color over black. In your case it looks better with the black valve covers. What kind of trans are you going to run btw?
I agree, you might wanna try a hard square brush? but the round default brush is of course just as good. Liking them thumbnails, now do one of them as a finished illustration! :D Doit!
Everything use the 1st uv channel by default (index 0), except lightmaps, but you can still force them to use the channel that you want. "Programmable" colors can be driven through vector parameters.
