There's a lot of truth in this. I'm spending a lot of my free time right now porting a flash game engine to OpenTK. I might never make a cent off of it. But I'm determined to complete the project, if for nothing else than the intellectual challenge it provides me with. My day job is just a means to put food on the table…
The panels that are falling off the roof don't really make sense to me. I would have them crashed on the floor and just have the metal pipes sticking out I think. Or just more broken pieces if you really want them up there. Also, do the piles of junk on the ground have normals or anything? It's feeling very flat and…
Its looking really nice, I would suggest you add some alternation to the lights though, as the way they all harmonise at the moment just gives it a breathing feel. If you were to make the lights flash in sequence towards the roof, it would give incentive to believe that its the way out. Another little thing is a lot of the…
There really seems to be varying level of detail on your textures there. The models are solid, but being hand-painted, there are certain areas that seem rather solid colour bodies that could use some detail. The ones that stand out to me the most is the concrete surrounding the statue (ie, the pathway, and the concrete…
sziada: Man what's up with the shading on the background house? But as it's just a blockout I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway...I started working on the little shed in the front. Decided to create 5 different planks and instance them to build the structure. Which probably resulted in way too many polys. I have a question.…
Nothing much to see this time. I upped the geometry in the roof panels and had a go at making a starry background. Still trying to figure out how to make the glass reflective though as I really liked the reflections I got on the previous screenshot. I haven't done much with the values yet as Beefaroni suggested so I might…
I agree Mike. No offense to Borderlands, but are you kidding me? Brink is one of the best looking games I have ever seen. The art quality is through the roof here especially considering the size of the art team. I still have not installed it but that will be taken care of tonight. I can't wait to experience this for…
@alytlebird thanks. The same duplicated cylinder, which represents the second human figure is already in place, but its hidden inside the flat cylindrical roof of that structure. I took the distance about 70-100 meters from foreground guy to the Motel :) @Urzaz thank you. Yeah, I think ZBrush can help a lot with these huge…
Hey that looks pretty sick! It did cross my mind as to how a person would get into the back seat, which is why there's suicide doors on it. It might work better if I stick the rear wheels out a bit more from the body. I like the 2-door style but it would look funny with a roof. I might end up chopping the top off if I were…
Substance Designer could definitely help. You could create a building template and quickly change or randomize the inputs you use for bricks, roofs etc. on all maps at the same time and batch that process through your 100 buildings, getting 100 different but consistent texture sets. Can you elaborate on what those textures…
