Hi everyone! 👋 My girlfriend and I are both programmers and we’re starting a hobby project together — a 3D game made in Babylon.js. We're looking for a 3D artist/animator to join us as a core part of the team. We chose Babylon.js for specific reasons (performance, easy WebGL integration, lightweight), and we’re already…
will be easier for you to understand if you think in terms of goals rather than disembodied steps. So to answer the question you first have to define the goal. If it is meant to be an animated real-time character you need to have a low-poly version of the model. The sculpt is for baking normal map from. In order to bake,…
Hi guys ! I am working on a personal game project in Unity, in which I am trying to implement a character customization system. The idea is simple : Use a single rigged base character and use blend shapes to allow the player to customize it's shape, morphology, proportions and so on. Here is an example of something I did…
Some of the photos of my progress. I have added more detail and fixed some of the shape and dimensions issues. I am still working on the rope on top of the sheath, but I am about to sculpt some wood and metal details in ZBrush. I will probably keep it fairly simple and focus on just the big shapes and details, such as the…
Hi guys, have lurked for a bit but never actually posted. I'm currently modelling a steam train in 3DS Max and I plan to export to Substance Painter and ultimately UE4. However, I'm a few hours in and I've not really thought about an efficient workflow. More specifically, unwrapping and baking out normals and AO for use…
Latest Update: Here's my final animation and my submission for the contest. I had tons of fun animating this mohawk warrior. Best of luck to everyone, thanks for viewing. Hi! I'm a hobbyist just doing some 3D after a long hiatus and had a general question. I'm making some fantasy gauntlets that have metal plates that overhang the knuckles. I'm curious if you would retopo this as a single mesh or split out the plates into their own mesh. I'm doing it as a single mesh (and making a big mess…
Thanks @littleclaude! The detailed feedback is sincerely appreciated. Taking it piecemeal, some of your feedback hits right on areas I had planned out + gives me a lot of stellar ideas and I wanted to call them out & show where my mind is at: * "lived-in" details: I have a sitting area where the victim spent most his time…
The tri count on your flatbed hauler is ridiculous. If it's humongous then that might be ok but you should show the scale of it. Right now I just see a pretty basic asset with a huge amount of tris on it. I'd say 20k tris would be fine for it but I dont know how big it is. If you want to strictly get into the game industry…
Thanks for the critique! It helps a lot and I appreciate you taking the time to help me! I wouldn't have noticed those things, but I think it might be because I've been staring at it for so long that it just looked right... I created a few more things before I read your post, so the new geo probably has some problems. But,…
